Employee Spotlight – Chris Bowling, Purchasing Manager
This month’s employee highlight is Chris Bowling! Chris was born and raised in Greenbrier, Tennessee, and now lives a few miles from there in Springfield, TN. Chris joined the Ed’s family in April of 2007, hired by Jeff “Tank” Harrington as a delivery driver. In his spare time, he is a gear head. Drag racing is a lifelong family hobby. Chris says, “If I am not working, you can generally find me either racing or working on one of the racecars.”
In his time at Ed’s, he drove full time for about a year both in town deliveries and taking stock runs to Murfreesboro, Clarksville, and Jackson. After the first year, he began helping Tank in the office with dispatching as well as shipping and receiving UPS and FEDEX and driving when needed. Chris then assumed the responsibility of managing the delivering department. After a few years in the delivery management position, he wanted to expand his knowledge; an opportunity opened up where he was able to move into inside sales on our Nashville parts counter where he picked up a more technical understanding of both our products and the sales side of the business.
From there, he was given the opportunity to move over into our equipment division where he began working with our residential sales team to further expand his knowledge of our business. After becoming comfortable with the residential side, he transitioned over to the commercial equipment/special quotes team where he continued to gain knowledge. This position allowed him to gain experience and ultimately afforded him the chance to work with the purchasing team in December, 2024, which led to his new position as Purchasing Manager today.
A majority of his time in the purchasing team, Chris has been under the leadership of Jonathan Davis, our former purchasing manager. Jonathan speaks highly of Chris, “Chris Bowling joined the Purchasing team in December 2024, bringing 18 years of product knowledge and a deep understanding of Ed’s Supply operations and culture. His technical and analytical mindset blended well with our group and he quickly proved himself a valuable addition. He’s a problem solver with a consistent work ethic, qualities that set him up for success as he navigates changing technology and our ever-challenging supply chain.”
Chris remarks, “I am excited for the opportunity to continue to expand my knowledge and understanding in our business and to have the honor to work with a great group of people.”
